1) Why was Veritas Christi Catholic High School created?

  • There are no other existing Catholic high schools specifically created to serve students with exceptionalities (more commonly stated as, “students with special needs”) therefore VCCHS needed to be developed
  • Every student deserves the opportunity to experience a high quality Catholic education

2) What is the problem we are trying to alleviate or resolve?

  • The absence of faith based, Catholic education available to high school students with exceptionalities
  • The absence of a differentiated, individualized, student focused instructional design rooted in Catholic teachings that supports and engages diverse learners

3) What outcomes do we anticipate?

  • The provision of an unrivaled educational experience of the highest quality, that successfully prepares young adults to live according to God’s will while achieving their academic and/or vocational goals
  • An increased awareness and acknowledgement within the educational and overall community of the significant role our students will have in the continued development and growth of our economy and way of life
  • That our students will experience a lifelong desire for an intimate relationship with God through dedication to the Scriptures and adherence to Catholic values, beliefs and traditions
  • That parents and family members of the students we serve, will intrinsically believe that enrolling their student in Veritas Christi Catholic High School was the best and most meaningful decision they ever made
  • Realization of a long-term planning goal of  purchasing land in order to construct a new Veritas Christi Catholic High School with the capability of housing students on site

4) How will school effectiveness be measured?

  • Outcomes as listed above, will be measured in part through:
  • Academic achievement assessments
  • Academic and behavioral progress reports
  • Teacher evaluations
  • Identified progress shown within the school improvement planning process
  • Student, parent, alumni and community satisfaction surveys
  • Steady growth in development funds
  • Increase in applications and overall student enrollment
  • Awareness and implementation of current “best practice” research

5) What are we trying to accomplish by creating Veritas Christi Catholic High School?

  • In addition to the above, establish a “best practice” instructional delivery model to be considered a driving force behind the re-emergence of the Catholic educational system in the United States

6) How is Veritas Christi Catholic High School different from other Catholic schools?

  • VCCHS is the only Catholic high school created and designed to serve students with exceptionalities
  • Highly qualified faculty who are endorsed by the State of Michigan as Special Education teachers
  • School administrator has full approval from the State of Michigan as Director and Supervisor of Special Education with multiple years of experience as a building principal
  • Our commitment to serve the student and her or his family is embedded in all aspects of VCCHS
  • Our universal belief system emphasizes the following:
  • Challenges define opportunities, not obstacles
  • Each student is valuable, has meaning and deserves the very best we can give every day
  • Never, ever quit or give up on a student
  • Model the Faith for our students by sharing the love, respect, dignity and passion as Jesus Christ has done for us
  • Treat each student as though they are your own child
  • To serve ALL of God’s children through education is an honor and privilege

7) How will we achieve our program and service goals? What methods will we use?

  • Following through with every promise and commitment
  • Effectively communicate with all stake holders
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate student, faculty and administrator effectiveness
  • Conduct ongoing “best practice” research
  • Willingly listen, learn and then lead
  • Embrace change in order to devise meaningful solutions that enhance our ability to meet the needs of our students and families
  • View each challenge as an opportunity to improve the educational experience of every student
  • Secure financial reserves that equal three years of operating expenses
  • Be good stewards of financial gifts provided by donors

How will Veritas Christi Catholic High School unite all of the above? By demonstrating through words and deeds our universal belief system, which is...

  • Challenges define opportunities, not obstacles
  • Each student is valuable, has meaning and deserves the very best we can give every day
  • Never, ever quit or give up on a student
  • Model the Faith for our students by sharing the love, respect, dignity and passion that Jesus Christ does for us
  • Treat each student as though they were our own child
  • Serving ALL of God’s children through education is an honor and privilege
